From it's beginnings in 1953 Lladró has gained a worldwide reputation for superb sculpture. Starting with the first experimental creations by brothers Juan, José and Vicente Lladró in a Moorish furnace in their home, the Lladró style has evolved and developed. With their early works taking influence from the masters of the 19th century, the range today includes a wide variety of styles and influences. Lladró works have achieved many accolades over the years and are enjoyed and collected all over the world.

Lladró creates all of its figurines at the "City of Porcelain" in Tavernes Blanques (Valencia). The first buildings there were opened in 1969 and have expanded to reach 100,000 sq. feet. The City of Porcelain is a large area designed for artistic creation, with bright studios and workshops, within a large complex that also has sports facilities and spacious gardens. The City of Porcelain is an open space for all those wishing to visit, thanks to a visitor’s program which allows you to watch artisans working on site and to visit the Lladró Museum.

Today Lladró remains a family owned business now having the children of the Lladró brothers on the Board of Directors. For those passionate about their Lladró collection, the Lladró Privilege society gives special information and services to collectors.
